Fences, Decks & Outdoor
Fence and gate installation, fence repair, patio covers, awnings and outdoor carpentry — posts set properly so the line still looks straight in five years.
Fences fail at the posts and at the gate. Everything else is pickets. Setting posts plumb, at the right depth, with the run laid out before the first one goes in, is the difference between a fence and a fence you have to keep fixing.
The horizontal cedar run in these photos replaced a chain-link line on a sloping yard, following the top of an existing stone retaining wall. On a slope you either rack the panels or step them — that decision gets made before anything is dug.
Repairs are just as common as new runs: a rotted section, a sagging gate, a corner post that has gone over. Those are worth doing before the neighbouring sections follow.
What this covers

Common questions
Can you replace just the bad section of my fence?
Yes, and it is usually the right call. New pickets will not match weathered ones at first, but they grey out within a season or two. The photos on this page show exactly that job.
